So I was looking on one of my favorite photographers webpage and I noticed that they had a link to a " 'I Do' it yourself " site. So I went to it and oh my goodness they have the cutest things on there. There are DIY gifts, invitations, thank you's. They are awesome! So if you are a creative person, or something that just has a lot of time on your hands, or even someone who just likes making homemade stuff instead of buying them, this is the site for you!

Pictures Worth a Thousand Words...

If there is one thing I love, its pictures. The pictures you take for your wedding say a lot about your personality. If there's one thing I'd stress, it would be to make sure you spend the time/money on the photography because the pictures will mean so much to you, your family, and your friends. You should really look for a photographer who is going to get the best pictures for you, but still complements your style.

Sorry I forgot who the photographer this was that took it. And as soon as I find out who's it was I'll give them their credit where its due, and a link to their website.

Hair Woes..

I have a confession..whenever I go to weddings, or see wedding photos I A. look at the dress then, B. proceed to look at the bride's hair. I am always interested to see how someone does their hair. I think that you can definitely enhance the dress by the style of your hair. I was looking through my old emails trying to clean out the old inbox and I came across an email from Brides.com that was all about finding your hair style.

This right here is my absolute favorite. Braids are big these days and I think this is simply elegant. There are so many different styles out there. Find one that best fits the dress!

I thought that adding pictures would be fun and it might spice up the blog!

Honeymoon!!!

So this is totally random. And I don't know why I've been thinking about this tonight but I've been thinking about places I'd like to go on my honeymoon. Ultimately I think the coolest place ever to go would be to Italy, but that's a little pricey. Plus let's be honest here, half the time, you don't really leave your room on your honeymoon. Which leads me to my point.

The best place to go/thing to do on your honeymoon is to take a cruise! All of your food is taken care of on cruises. There is entertainment always going on, so when you do take a break from your room there are things to do. And if you never leave your room at all, you still went on a cruise for a pretty decent price!

If it was my choice on where to go for that cruise, I would pick the Virgin Islands! Although pretty much anywhere would be cool. Happy Honeymoon!

Color Wheel of GREATNESS

Last summer when I was helping my friend Addie plan her December wedding, I came across Brides.com. We were going over colors and the different combinations for a winter wedding. I was so excited when I found this I spent at least 30 minutes going through all of the combos. This is probably my most favorite thing about planning a wedding. If you think about it, it is kind of like the first step of the process because if you don't have your colors then you don't know what to do for bridesmaids, groomsmen, the groom, reception, flowers...as you can see its a MAJOR part. This wheel is a fun way to explore the different color options that best fit you.

New Author.... Bad Magician!

So... we have another author now! My dear friend Kacey has decided she wants to join in the fun of talking about things we think are cool for weddings. We were sitting at a mutual friends wedding reception this evening when I told her about my blog and she was really excited to see it. I know she'll have a lot of insightful things! Yay for that!

Oh, and while we were at the reception, just FYI, don't have a magician. He was such a weird dude. I am still not completely sure what he was there for. I guess if you have a lot of little kids that will be at the reception its a way to keep them occupied. Personally, I just thought he was a dork. Who knows!?! I would just not recommend that one. Maybe for a party, but not a reception.

*Kacey reminded me about the Italian Sodas! This was an awesome idea. They had an Italian Soda bar instead of just water and lemonade. It was delicious! Oh and Kacey made the best flavored one! Raspberry Peach! It was great! Good job on the drinks Mandy!*

Photo Booth

Here's another idea for a photo booth that I think is really cool. Its from a website called Kiss the Groom. They basically created a background with holes in it so you can go into those "pictures." I really like this. If there's some sort of theme for my wedding, this would be a really cool thing to do for the photo booth guestbook.

Val's Wedding

Man, after going to Val and Greg's wedding I have so many great ideas! They had this awesome thing called the Funky Photo Booth! It was a lot of fun. Guests were told to go get their pictures taken and then later (like before they left) to stop by the guest table and sign by their picture. But the pictures were also suppose to be funny.

They also had an awesome DJ! I will have to find out who did it because he actually got people out there dancing!

They also had some awesome places for pictures. They did pictures at the Hotel Monaco, the Utah Capital building, in front of the Wells Fargo building, and Union Station in Ogden. They were awesome! They were taken by Captured by Mikki!

Not only that, they had a great idea. Instead of doing the video of pictures, what they did was they had one of those digital picture frames and just put pictures of them with their friends and family on it. All you'd have to do is load them on to an memory card and plug it in the frame and its good to go! I think it was a genius idea!

Flowers

I may have found a blue flower... but we'll see. Delphiniums. They come in blue and they come in a light sky blue to a dark blue.

http://www.wedding-flowers-guide.com/blue-wedding-flowers.html

Quoting that webpage....

Some of the classic wedding flowers are not available in blue. These include calla lilies, tulips, gerberas, orchids, carnations, gladioli, anthuriums and roses. You can get artificially dyed roses from specialist suppliers. These are white roses that have been grown in a blue dye. But some people think that their vibrant color just doesn't look right.

You can get around this problem by the creative use of accessories such as blue ribbons and organza. You can also complement your blue wedding flowers with white varieties such as roses and calla lilies to give a more traditional feel.

Cameras

Instead of using the polaroids as a guestbook. I think I'd like to get a lot of polaroid cameras and just set them on the tables and let guests take pictures of things they think are cool. :) My only concern there is that they will take the pictures with them when they leave.

Guestbooks

I have an idea about a guest book. I saw at a bridal fair a company that took pictures of the guests as they came in and then you got a photobook of the pictures. And they were suppose to be fun pictures!

Well, instead of paying someone to do that, get a polaroid camera and take peoples pictures that way and let them write on the polaroid picture instead. You could even stick polaroid cameras out on the tables to let people take pictures with the polaroids instead of with disposable cameras. It would be really cool to see all the pictures.
